What happens
when my vehicle is stolen?
Using sophisticated motion sensors,
RAC Trackstar
Plus recognises if a vehicle has moved illegally and
immediately alerts the RAC National Control Centre.
These alerts continue every 20 seconds until the
vehicle is recovered.
The computer system developed by Trafficmaster
utilises the network of Global Positioning Satellites
(GPS) to monitor the vehicle's signal and track its
direction of travel, speed and location - to an
accuracy of five metres.
The control centre will check with the owner to
verify if the vehicle has been stolen. The owner then
has to obtain a crime reference number, which gives
Trackstar authority to work directly with the Police.
The control centre is open 24 hours a day every
day of the year, and will be on hand to update the
Police with the vehicle's location throughout the
entire vehicle track.
Upon receipt of this information the Police are able
to locate the vehicle and in many cases apprehend
the thief. The vehicle is then returned by the RAC to
your home FREE of charge.
What does it cost? Payment can
be made as a
one-off, monthly, quarterly or annual subscription.
